Do you ever wonder what to do and how to act when you visit an art gallery or museum? This may seem like a strange topic for a post, but it continues to surprise me how many people who visit New York feel nervous or a little uncomfortable about taking advantage of the wonderful art museums and galleries that make the city such a vibrant center of the art world.
I don’t think it’s a feature of New York particularly, but rather an astonishingly common source of concern to both art enthusiasts and casual gallery visitors. If you’re someone who might let uncertainty prevent you from checking out the art wherever you may be, it’s time to stop worrying. NYC is a great example of why it’s worth getting over any lingering doubts – [...]
It’s been another busy, creative and wonderful year at Agora Gallery, and we look back on it with pride and satisfaction. Of course, there are more highlights than can really fit into a single post, and we can only mention a few of our great memories from the past year here. If you want to relive some of the other magic moments, from the Agora team’s participation in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure event to the glories of a particular exhibition, our Facebook wall, Twitter feed and reception photos and videos are available to help you out.
As ever, the exhibition of the works of the juror-chosen artists from the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition was a refreshing look at the innovation [...]
A great new exhibition is coming to Agora Gallery this month, with The Odyssey Within lending a refreshing Mediterranean air to lighten the December chill, and Elements of Abstraction and Sensorial Realms providing a visual feast you won’t forget. Starting December 16, 2010, with the opening reception taking place on the same day, the show will run through the holiday period, ending on January 7, 2010. As always, art-lovers are warmly welcomed and entrance is free.
The Odyssey Within offers viewers the chance to experience the charm and variety of art by artists with Italian and Greek backgrounds. Brimming with vitality and the exuberance of life, combined with a subtle thoughtfulness, these are works which celebrate both the richness of the external world and the intricacies of internal ones.
During the holiday period, Agora Gallery will be hosting an exhibition by a Montreal artist who truly found life through art. Between December 16, 2010 and January 7, 2011, Gallery II will feature the work of the talented VéroniKaH, and visitors will have the opportunity to be both warmed and invigorated by her art. The opening reception will be on December 16, 2010 and art-lovers are encouraged to attend and take the chance to meet the artist in person.
VéroniKaH is an artist whose works have an otherworldly, ethereal charm as they combine abstract backgrounds with often indistinct forms, encouraging the viewer to connect with what they are seeing and enter into dialog with it. Although she began painting at a time of darkness and distress in her life, that solemnity rarely reaches into her [...]
Agora Gallery is celebrating the best in photography this month – in addition to the fascinating ‘Year in Pictures’ exhibition in Gallery II, we are delighted to present the dazzling contemporary photography of Altered States of Reality: An Exhibition of Analog and Digital Fine Art Photography. At the same time, stunning abstract art features in Labyrinth of Abstraction, while Sensorial Perspectives showcases the work of artists who convey great emotional and empirical depth through art.
The exhibitions will open on October 29, 2010 and continue until November 19, 2010, with the opening reception taking place on Thursday November 4, 2010. As always, artists and art-lovers are warmly invited to attend.
The first fall exhibition of the year is coming to Agora Gallery. Masters of the Imagination: The Latin American Art Exhibition will be open from September 10, 2010 until October 1, 2010. The opening reception will take place on September 16, 2010. As always, entrance is free and art-lovers are warmly encouraged to visit this remarkable exhibition.
Masters of the Imagination remains a firm favorite on Agora’s annual calendar, tapping into an audience who are deeply touched by the dynamic atmosphere created by lively, energetic paintings. Love of life and its variety shines out of these works, spreading this sense of appreciation to all who see them. The audience will be able to feel the vitality of the artists and their view on the world, both that of their inner emotions [...]
A new exhibition is coming to Agora Gallery’s adjacent gallery space. It will showcase the remarkable work of contemporary artist Paul M. Cote. The exhibition of his celestial images will open August 17, 2010, and continue until September 7, 2010, with the reception on August 19. Entrance is free and art-lovers are encouraged to visit this show, which features the captivating art and undeniable skill of a very talented artist.
Paul M. Cote has been aware of an affinity for art for much of his life – whenever he visited a new place, the art galleries and museums would be the first places he would hunt for. Yet for some time his priorities lay in other areas, notably sport; he worked in the tennis industry for over 20 years, training both children and [...]

Chelsea has been known as the art district of the Big Apple since the 1990s, when galleries began moving from SoHo to their new homes, mostly in West Chelsea – which now has over 370 galleries and more artist studios than you could count! Agora Gallery proudly presents a collective exhibition for the selected artists of the 2009 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition.
This spectacular collective exhibition will take viewers through surreal explorations of human experience. Through vibrant fusions of Realism, Symbolism and Expressionism, where geometry of architecture meld with scenes of urban landscapes or subtle nuances of natural light, the audience can explore new ideas and investigate novel combinations and contrasts. Travel into exaggerated perspectives and anachronistic juxtapositions and where objects from pop culture meet vintage keepsakes.
