You’ve been accepted for representation, built a relationship with your gallery, arranged the date for an exhibition and carefully chosen the works that will be on show there. There’s a lot of work that goes into planning an exhibition, both from you and from the gallery, and it’s easy to get so caught up in that that you forget about the opening reception except as just another thing to be ticked off on your long list.
However, the truth is that an opening reception can be a great opportunity for you as an artist, and it’s important to approach it from that perspective. If you can take time out of thinking about all the other jobs or arrangements that need dealing with to concentrate on the reception, then it’s worth [...]
As we settle into 2011, we at Agora Gallery are proud to look back at the success of Gallery II, a relatively new venture begun just over a year ago. The idea originated from our appreciation of how central and busy the New York art scene is, and the realization that galleries and artists from outside the city, and even from outside the country, might want to rent gallery space to present their work in the center of this international art hub.
We have been delighted with the reception of the shows which have appeared in Gallery II over the past year and a quarter. From the first exhibition there, featuring the stunning work of Ruth Gilmore Langs, to the phenomenally successful LEGO sculptures of [...]
A great new exhibition is coming to Agora Gallery this month, with The Odyssey Within lending a refreshing Mediterranean air to lighten the December chill, and Elements of Abstraction and Sensorial Realms providing a visual feast you won’t forget. Starting December 16, 2010, with the opening reception taking place on the same day, the show will run through the holiday period, ending on January 7, 2010. As always, art-lovers are warmly welcomed and entrance is free.
The Odyssey Within offers viewers the chance to experience the charm and variety of art by artists with Italian and Greek backgrounds. Brimming with vitality and the exuberance of life, combined with a subtle thoughtfulness, these are works which celebrate both the richness of the external world and the intricacies of internal ones.
Agora Gallery proudly presents a collective exhibition for the selected artists of the 2009 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition.
This spectacular collective exhibition will take viewers through surreal explorations of human experience. Through vibrant fusions of Realism, Symbolism and Expressionism, where geometry of architecture meld with scenes of urban landscapes or subtle nuances of natural light, the audience can explore new ideas and investigate novel combinations and contrasts. Travel into exaggerated perspectives and anachronistic juxtapositions and where objects from pop culture meet vintage keepsakes.
