Solo/Marcela Cadena; Japanese Exhibition; Morphing into Milieu; Singular Sensations
You’ll feel that spring is in the air with the new exhibitions coming your way in March, as these lively and creative works bring a feeling of freshness and joy to the gallery. Opening on March 1, 2011 and running through until March 22, 2011, with a reception on March 3, 2011, you won’t want to miss these memorable shows.
In Gallery II you can experience Colores del Corazón, a solo exhibition displaying the works of Marcela Cadena, a Mexican artist who delves into her rich cultural heritage to produce dazzling works of art full of robust colors and enthralling emotions. To appreciate one of her pieces is to interact with the artist herself, because it is clear that she puts much of herself into her paintings, so that each work of art reflects a part of her soul.
No walls were safe from Marcela when she was a child, for she liked to decorate them wherever she could reach with what she called her ‘little Picassos.’ While she no longer relies on a wall for a canvas, her work retains the same spontaneity and sense of being a celebration of life, made all the more potent through the impressive artistic skills that she has developed. Working in oil and mixed media, the artist uses her spatula to incorporate different textures that give each piece a unique and evocative feeling.
Gentle yet strong, delicate but powerful, the works of the Japanese artists in Matrix of the Mind transcend contradictions to form perfectly balanced and harmonious compositions. Textures, colors and lines all reflect artistic training and inner ability, providing a tantalizing element of spiritual discovery and depth which adds poignant richness to these works.
Morphing into Milieu brings you the color and vitality of a range of environments, condensed and reshaped into unique works of art. The steadiness of nature is enlivened by the magic of human creativity, as these artists put their talent and skill to good use exploring both the world we know and the surprising truths that lie within us.
Investigating both their natural heritage and the possibilities of a range of artistic media, Singular Sensations focuses on the work of artists who remain firmly rooted in a clear sense of self even as they stretch outside their boundaries to see what lies beyond. Ingenious, moving and with a quality that conveys much of the elation of living, these works are strong reminders of the value of a variety of artistic forms.
