It’s August at Agora Gallery, and that can mean only one thing – the Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition! Agora Gallery is proud to host this event annually, showcasing powerful contemporary works chosen by the competition’s juror. The 2011 Chelsea International Fine Art Competition Exhibition will take place between August 19, 2011 and September 9, 2011. The opening reception will be on August 25, 2011.

The competition accepts a range of mediums, and the exhibition of the selected artists reflects that fact. Photography, oils, digital art, mixed media, watercolor, acrylic and sculpture all take their place in the exhibit, contributing to an excitingly varied and creative show. Similarly, styles include abstract and representational, conceptual and surrealist, while the choice of subjects present the same diversity as their creators. There’s something to amaze and delight every visitor.

The artists come from countries around the world, from Germany to Japan and from the United States to Australia, Norway and Italy, among others. Coming from a range of backgrounds, each artist brings their open personal experience and perspective to their work, creating unique, evocative images. The result is an exhibition which displays the full energy and impact of contemporary art.

The competition juror this year was Elisabeth Sherman, curatorial assistant at the prestigious Whitney Museum of American Art in New York City. She was faced with the challenge of selecting artists from among the high quality entries the competition received, and although the task was, as always, a difficult one, viewers will agree that it was worth the work.
