A new exhibition is coming to Agora Gallery’s adjacent gallery space. It will showcase the remarkable work of contemporary artist Paul M. Cote. The exhibition of his celestial images will open August 17, 2010, and continue until September 7, 2010, with the reception on August 19. Entrance is free and art-lovers are encouraged to visit this show, which features the captivating art and undeniable skill of a very talented artist.
Paul M. Cote has been aware of an affinity for art for much of his life – whenever he visited a new place, the art galleries and museums would be the first places he would hunt for. Yet for some time his priorities lay in other areas, notably sport; he worked in the tennis industry for over 20 years, [...]

It’s often said that a rainy day is a museum day, and it’s certainly true that wet weather, or a particularly hot day, might well encourage art-lovers to see that exhibition they had been meaning to visit, or while away a spare hour or two in a favorite gallery where they can combine pleasure with an escape from the elements.
But there is a deeper and more direct role that weather plays in art, the creation of it, and even our experience of it. That is, simply, that it is reflected in many works of art as a vital element of the atmosphere and setting of the scene.

Agora Gallery is delighted to announce the latest of our summer exhibitions. It will be a collective exhibition, and A Maze of Milieu, Portal to Enigma and The Pathway to Abstraction can be viewed from July 23, 2010 until August 13, 2010. Art-lovers are invited to attend the opening reception on the evening of August 5, 2010.
A Maze of Milieu presents the works of a select group of talented artists whose work is inspired by the world in which they live. Yet there is considerable diversity in the aspects of their environment which most influence their work, and we are treated to an examination of everything from the beauties of nature, to urban scenes, to the recesses of the human mind.

Many readers will remember the exhibitions at Agora Gallery featuring the remarkable LEGO creations of Nathan Sawaya – and many people who saw his work then will have been caught by his imaginative, wonderful works and will have followed his career since then. Nathan’s work is deeply thought-provoking in its own right, and deals with serious issues and ideas, presented to a willing audience in an accessible and appealing manner. Yet he is not the only artist to have discovered the power of this unusual medium – in recent years, LEGO sculptures and works have been appearing in various unexpected places. The video below focuses on a number of LEGO artists, who are bringing a whole new level of meaning to a tool which is increasingly taking its place as a powerful art medium.
